Stranmillis Primary School Choir at "Sunday First"

  Revd Ron Elsdon   For "Sunday First" on 5 Feb 2012 we were joined by the choir of Stranmillis Primary School and four members of the choir also played in our Music Group.

The Service was led by the Revd Ron Elsdon (Rector of St Bartholomew's). In his address "Soaring like Eagles" he spoke about athletes who were trained to achieve their goal but had failed at the last minute. Often we use the excuse we are too tired, we are too busy or the task is too hard. In the reading from Isaiah 40:28–31 we are told that "He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless.

Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Waiting for the Lord means trusting in the Lord.

 

It was lovely to see so many children and their parents joining us afterwards in the halls for refreshments. Well done to all involved.
